Sunbelt Can’t Hold Them Back

Florida has always lead American states in population growth; our economic model is dependant upon it and is simply called the “growth model”. From 2001 to 2005 we had tweaked the model so successfully we were first in domestic migration. Those were dreamy days when if seemed everyone was moving to Florida.

This last year we were ranked 45^th. This last year more people left the state then came here. From July 2008-July 2009 we lost 31,179 people to other states.

Ken Barnes, Director at the Greater Tampa Bay Chamber Partnership, assures 83 Degrees this is not a trend.

“The boomers are coming! The boomer are coming, they really are. Growth model is working, working fine. ….Everything is good. …Need money for marketing. Boomers will get it….the boomers will save us…all about the boomers…big wave…big wave soon. Sunshine, the sunshine makes money….”

After this statement Ken curled into a fetal position under his desk, sucked his thumb and softly sang lullabies to his self.
